Finance Assistant

We're looking for a finance professional who doesn't just process transactions, you'll be someone who spots problems, finds solutions and looks for smarter ways of working.
You'll join a growing, forward-thinking business that's investing in technology, automation and AI, with the opportunity to get involved in improving processes and developing how the finance function works.
The Finance Assistant role:
Alongside the day-to-day transactional finance, you'll:
- Process customer invoices and support accounts receivable
- Carry out cash and bank reconciliations
- Support accounts payable and supplier expenses
- Assist with journals, GL postings and routine accounting
- Respond to finance queries and speak directly with customers about their accounts
- Investigate issues and identify opportunities to improve processes
- Support new systems, automation and process improvements
- Test system enhancements and explore how AI can improve finance operations
- Help document and standardise processes as the business grows
About you
We're looking for someone with finance assistant experience or formal study in finance, accounting or bookkeeping. An accounting/finance degree or part-completed AAT qualification would be advantageous.
More importantly, you'll be:
- Naturally curious and interested in how things work
- A problem solver who looks for solutions rather than simply highlighting issues
- Confident communicating with customers and colleagues
- Genuinely interested in technology, automation and AI and how they can support our day to day roles
- Comfortable learning new systems and challenging inefficient processes
