HR Advisor – Employee Relations (ER)
Location: Cardiff
Contract: Temporary assignment for up to 6 months
Salary: Depending on experience
Hours: 9:00am–5:00pm
Working pattern: Part-time, 2–3 days per week
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced HR Advisor to provide hands-on support across a range of Employee Relations (ER) matters for our client in Cardiff. This is a part-time assignment for up to six months, with a minimum commitment of two days per week and three days preferred.
This is a casework-focused ER role, ideal for an HR Advisor who can hit the ground running, quickly adapt to an organisation’s policies and procedures, and confidently manage a varied caseload in a fast-paced environment.
The role will focus on managing ER cases from start to finish, ensuring processes are followed consistently, fairly and in line with company policies. There is no significant business partnering requirement; the priority is providing effective, practical HR support and keeping cases moving.
The role will be primarily office-based, with a preference for candidates who can work at least two of the team’s core office days: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. If working part-time over two days per week, both days will be office-based.
Key Responsibilities
-
Manage a varied caseload of ER matters, including grievances, disciplinary investigations, appeals and probation cases.
-
Support and advise on redundancy processes, ensuring procedures are followed appropriately.
-
Respond to ad hoc Subject Access Requests (SARs) and support the associated processes.
-
Provide practical guidance on HR policies, procedures and ER processes.
-
Ensure cases are managed efficiently, accurately and consistently, maintaining appropriate documentation and records.
-
Quickly develop an understanding of the organisation’s ways of working, policies and internal processes.
-
Work proactively and dynamically to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
About You
-
Proven experience as an HR Advisor or in a hands-on Employee Relations role.
-
Strong experience managing a broad range of ER casework, including grievances, investigations and appeals.
-
A good understanding of HR policies, procedures and best practice.
-
Experience supporting redundancy processes and handling or assisting with SARs would be beneficial.
-
Able to work independently, manage a varied caseload and pick up cases with minimal supervision.
-
Adaptable, proactive and comfortable working at pace in a changing environment.
-
Excellent communication, organisational and case management skills, with strong attention to detail.
The Ideal Candidate
You will be a confident and pragmatic HR professional who enjoys hands-on ER work and can quickly get to grips with existing policies and processes. As an experienced HR Advisor, you will be comfortable managing cases independently and providing reliable, practical support from beginning to end.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a part-time HR Advisor assignment where they can make an immediate impact, using their ER expertise to support a busy organisation.
