People Policy & Relations Manager
Pontypridd – Hybrid working
Up to 12-Month Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover)
Part Time – 4 days per week
Salary – £41,064 pro rata + excellent benefits
If you’re an experienced Policy & Relations Manager and ER professional with a passion for policy development, leading complex casework, and driving proactive people strategies, this is an excellent opportunity to step into a key leadership role within a progressive People function.
About You
• Significant experience managing complex and sensitive Employee Relations casework
• Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and best practice
• Proven experience developing and implementing HR/People policies
• Confident advising, coaching and influencing senior stakeholders and managers
• Experience supporting organisational change, including TUPE
• Ability to assess risk and deliver pragmatic, outcome-focused solutions
• Experience leading, supporting or developing HR/People team members
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including working with Trade Unions
• Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• CIPD Level 7 qualified (or equivalent experience), with membership or willingness to work towards
What You’ll Be Doing (and the impact you’ll make)
• Leading the development, review and implementation of people policies, ensuring legal compliance and best practice
• Driving proactive Employee Relations strategies, focusing on early intervention and conflict prevention
• Managing and overseeing complex ER casework, providing expert advice and guidance to managers and stakeholders
• Supporting and developing a small team of Employee Relations specialists
• Leading on employment tribunal preparation and liaising with legal representatives
• Partnering with Trade Unions to support consultation, engagement and resolution of workplace issues
• Analysing casework trends and insights to inform continuous improvement and strategic decision-making
• Supporting organisational change initiatives, including restructuring and TUPE processes
• Designing and delivering training on Employee Relations, policies and inclusive workplace behaviours
• Leading on key projects, including third-party provider management (e.g. Occupational Health / EAP)
• Championing a culture of fairness, inclusion, and respect across the organisation
